A Kingly Name

King Barf isn’t actually named King Barf. His real name is King Bartholomew Archibald Reginald Fife, a fine, kingly name—a name with a great destiny, of course. But I don’t care how handsome or powerful that name makes you. It’s a mouthful. So for short I call him King Barf, though I’d never say it out loud.

National Ice Cream Day

Today is National Ice Cream Day! Of course, we went right for a double-scoop of magic.

Jonah plopped a spoonful of Chocolate Orange Switcheroo into my glass. “Try this one.”

I took a small bite to start with. The ice cream melted against my tongue, sweet and fruity and smooth. Then came the switcheroo part a chocolate fudgy flavor that caused the corners of my jaws to tingle with happiness.

Bittersweet
Tangy
Citrus

Crazy good!

Downy Feathers

Falcon Chick

When I awoke my eyes opened on two gray eyes in a white stroobly head. Small pinfeathers were sticking out of the stroobly down, like feathers in an Indian quiver. The blue beak curled down in a snarl and up in a smile.

“Oh, Frightful,” I said, “you are a raving beauty.”
