#MGCarousel Book Bingo – July 2023

How Does It Work?

Our book bingo card contains 25 squares with prompts relating to things from Middle Grade books. Try and cover 5 squares in a line—up, down, or diagonally—or attempt to fill the whole sheet if you’re a speedy reader.

Download the graphic, share your reading progress using our hashtag (#MGCarousel) on social media, and have fun! A transcript of the Bingo table is available as well.

Rules

1. All books added to your bingo card should be Middle Grade reads. Find out more about Middle Grade books here.
2. Each square needs to be filled with a unique book. You cannot use the same title more than once, even if it fits multiple themes. Choose wisely!
3. Our Summer Reading edition of the Middle Grade bingo challenge runs for just one month. You have from July 1-31 to add books to your card.

Book Bingo Transcript

Squares are arranged in 5×5 formation, making 25 in total. A letter and number indicate their placement.

Squares on the same horizontal line are referred to as “rows” and are in alphabetical order from A to E, placed top to bottom.

Squares on the same vertical column are numbered from 1 to 5, placed right to left.

Combine the letter and number to find the square on your Bingo card (example: Square A1 is the leftmost square in the top row.)

• Row A
  1. title begins with the letter ‘B’
  2. ‘day’ or ‘night’ in the title
  3. six-letter word in the title
  4. double ‘D’ word in the title
  5. flowers on the cover

• Row B
  1. novel in verse
  2. sea creature on the cover
  3. fruit word in the title
  4. a rider on the cover
  5. swimwear on the cover

• Row C
  1. ‘save’ or ‘help’ in the title
  2. vacation story
  3. (center of the board) pick your own prompt
  4. ‘camp’ in the title
  5. double ‘R’ word in the title

• Row D
  1. patches on the cover
  2. title begins with the letter ‘T’
  3. dessert on the cover
  4. season word in the title
  5. butterfly on the cover

• Row E
  1. word with a silent letter in the title
  2. two names in the title
  3. ‘promise’ in the title
  4. waves on the cover
  5. title begins with the letter ‘W’
