Vonceil’s brother, Elber, returns from the front lines of World War I to the family farm in Oklahoma, marries the girl he left behind, and life seems to go on. Until a mysterious woman in white arrives, demanding that Elber be with her instead.

His refusal brings a curse down upon the farm, turning their entire town’s drinking supply into saltwater. Striking out alone, Vonciel faces dangers both unfamiliar and supernatural in order to confront the Salt Witch and return everything to normal.

The New York Standard is in need of a new food critic. The perfect application is a bit unconventional, but the head editor is simply thrilled to find someone passionate about fine dining and discovering new ingredients.

Eleven-year-old Gladys Gatsby loves everything to do with food. So when she receives an out-of-the-blue opportunity to write a real restaurant critique, she’s beyond thrilled to take the job. Unfortunately, Gladys’s latest culinary creation was a total catastrophe, and she’s been banned in participating in any food-related activities. So it will take a bit of creative thinking and the help of her friends to get out of East Dumpsford and taste her way through New York City.
