About GMGR
Great Middle Grade Reads is a Goodreads Group which provides a space for conversation and community around Middle Grade books. Young readers, parents, educators, librarians, writers, and authors are invited to share in the magic of a book that takes you to worlds beyond a wardrobe, provides the glimmer of a golden ticket, or reveals the beauty of a word-weaving best friend.
GMGR is one of the longest-running Goodreads Groups for Middle Grade readers, originally founded in 2012. Its ongoing reading challenges and forums have supported a thriving community of people who are passionate about MG fiction.
GMGR Challenges
- Book of the Month gives the group a Middle Grade title to discuss in-depth. Selections are announced two weeks prior to give everyone time to grab a copy.
- Theme of the Month shares Middle Grade Carousel’s monthly reading challenge with the Goodreads community, allowing for more discussion and recommendations inspired by the featured topic.
- A to Z Challenge runs annually. Can you read one for each letter of the alphabet before the end of the year?
- Read a Rainbow Challenge runs annually. Choose to read through a classic 7-color rainbow or an entire spectrum of 15 colors.
- Middle Grade Series Challenge encourages you to work toward the end of those trilogies, quartets, sequences, sagas, and series throughout the year.
